Mitchella Vineyard & Winery
I previously lamènted that I’ve got to stop. I didn’t. I took another trip to the east side of 101, this time just outside Paso on Highway 46. Had it been sundown I would have been going to Sensorio. But it was sunny afternoon time, so conditions were perfect to enjoy the views, the drinks, and even the eats at Mitchella Vineyard & Winery.
For me, this first experience was a year ago. I’ve already been back 3 times, have become a member, and often give their wines to my guests at the Sunrise Estate for their first taste of Paso. Do I need to say more? I’ll say a little more.
My simple characterization of Mitchella is that they’re a fun happy place for lovers of luscious red wines (raises hand high). You’ll find lots of deep flavors and smooth mouth feels here. Every tasting at the winery comes with a cheese pairing as well (maybe even a bit of chocolate if you’re lucky), so you get a great chance to experience the flavors in their best light. A jammy wine and a smooth cheese make for a life well lived.
Propped up on a hill, the cosy winery also boasts some very pleasant grassy grounds and views to enjoy if you want to take a bit of a walk with your glass.
As a wine club member, I’ve come to appreciate their down to earth prices and, particularly, their wine of the month deals which can be honestly killer. I’m picking up a case of this month’s special on the 2021 Shameless, and it won’t be my first time grabbing a case!
Alright, that’s it. Enough gushing. I think my recommendation is clear. Go visit Mitchella, do a tasting, and grab a bottle or twelve. Happy sips!
