2025 Growing Season
2025 was a great year! We got our first taste of our young Zinfandel vines, made lots of plum butter, and watched the orchard continue to grow. The month of May continues to be a personal favorite, always delivering perfect weather and all the lovely vibes and looks of spring growth. This May, the first grape clusters from the Zinfandel vines emerged, and my excitement couldn’t have been greater. I removed most of the grapes from these young vines (very hard to do!) but left enough to look forward to enjoying a taste in summer time.
Also in May a friend surprised us with a lovely bouquet made from our very own roses - I was blown away!
July was spent eating plums by the dozen fresh from our tree and, of course, making plum butter!
In August all those grapes I left on the vines turned a lovely purple and I could wait no longer to devour them. Literally, I could wait no longer, because the birds had clearly descovered them as well and decided they tasted great! Next year I’ll have to invest in bird netting, but now I just opted for a mid-August harvest and enjoyed the heck out of the fruit the winged ones hadn’t beaten me to!
